Plainfield Biomass Power Plant
In conjunction with International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 33, (CT.) Atlantic reached substantial completion on December 21, 2013 of Plainfield Renewable Energy (PRE) power plant.
The Plainfield Biomass Power Plant is the state of Connecticut’s newest biomass generation facility capable of producing 37.5 MW of net generation. The PRE plant will generate electricity through the use of wood that is mainly derived from construction and demolition waste that would otherwise be placed in landfills. The PRE plant will generate enough electricity to power 40, 000 homes in Connecticut.
Atlantic Contracting & Specialties, LLC. completed the project on time, on budget and accident free with over 6000 hours. The builder was Leidos Constructors, LLC, led by Project Manager, Vice President Wally Hunt. Architect/Engineer is Leidos Engineering, LLC.
Atlantic’s onsite team consisted of Project Manager Tom Yontz, Site Superintendent Dave Farrington (Local #6), Foremen Steve Dombrowski (Local #33), Sheet metal Foreman Jay Parker (Local 17), Atlantic Branch Manager Tom Romano, Atlantic’s Connecticut Superintendent of Construction John Champagne (retired Local #33) and Local #33 Business Manager Kevin Cwikla, worked hand in hand for a successful project.
